Rhodes used to be the capital of Dodecanese Islands and an important city from 500 to 300 BC. It's the site of historic battles between the Knights of St. John and the Ottoman Empire. Sights include the Old City with it's walled medieval town, the Palace of the Grand Masters, Street of the Knights, the Temple of Venus, and Archeological and Byzantine Museums. It was said to be more beautiful than the sun. Indeed there is much sun there along with balmy weather and sandy Agathi beach. |
